Antoine Griezmann has dined with Lionel Messi as he attempts to improve his relationship with fellow Barcelona superstars.
French World Cup winner Griezmann says he is “not very good at talking to people” but hopes to make his understanding with strikepartners Messi and Luis Suarez more “comfortable” on and off the pitch.
The former Atletico Madrid main man, 28, has yet to reach the heights he scaled before his £107million summer arrival.
But Griezmann has suggested this could all change once he settles in with his team-mates on and off the field.
He told Uefa.com: “I’m really shy and I’m not very good at talking to people”
“I’m not the type of person to start conversations. But Leo, Luis and I are getting to know each other and we’ve already gone for dinner together.
“Our relationship will only improve over time, and it’s clear that what happens will only make us feel more comfortable on the pitch.”
Griezmann has supplied a modest four goals and three assists in his 12 La Liga games for Barca, who head the table on goal difference from Real Madrid.
And he readily accepts Messi’s talent makes the difference.
With the Argentinian already on eight goals and five assists in the Spanish top-flight, Griezmann said: “We won’t see a player like him in the next 40 years.
“What he does is incredible. It’s a real delight to see him play.”
