Man City Star Leroy Sane Stepping Up Injury Rehab In LA As He Targets February Return

Leroy Sane is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a cruciate injury

Leroy Sane is stepping up his injury recovery in Los Angeles.

The Manchester City  forward, 23, has been sidelined with anterior-cruciate ligament damage but there is hope he will return this season.

He has been in America with City staff for part of his rehab after picking the serious knee injury at the start of the season in the Community Shield.

Pep Guardiola is expecting to have Sane back around February time should his recovery remain on track.

And Bayern Munich have a long-term interest in the Germany international and will be keeping a close eye on his comeback.

The City winger was initially expected to be out until March, after damaging cruciate ligaments in the Community Shield win over Liverpool.

But Sane, 23, is back in the gym and already leg pressing 20kg, and is set to get the nod for jogging and stability work after the international break.

Both his doctors in Germany and City’s conditioning staff are pleased with how quickly he is progressing and the player has told pals he is way ahead of schedule.

Bayern will also be delighted at the news, having publicly courted the former Schalke star all summer.

City were unimpressed at what they felt were efforts to unsettle him and let it be known Sane would cost a minimum of £138 million before they would consider business.
