Frank Lampard believes N’Golo Kante could be fit again to face Lille on Wednesday after missing the win against Brighton with a hamstring issue.
Influential midfielder Kante’s season has been heavily disrupted by injury.
He carried over his knee troubles from last season, then picked up an ankle problem before the hamstring problem that forced him out against Brighton.
Head coach Lampard said: ‘It’s an awareness, I didn’t want to take a risk. I spoke to N’Golo about it and he’s so important for us.
‘We know that. He’s had a difficult pre-season. It’s been difficult for us but mainly for him because of the break-up of his pre-season, with the injury carrying over from last year.
‘It wasn’t right to risk him today. He could have a chance for Lille.’
