Chelsea secure the future of Callum Hudson-Odoi as they make winger one of the world’s best paid teenagers after agreeing long-term £50m deal

Callum Hudson-Odoi has ended speculation over his future by signing a new deal at Chelsea

Callum Hudson-Odoi has become one of the world’s best paid teenagers after signing a new £50million contract.

The 18-year-old has agreed to stay at Stamford Bridge for the next five years – in a deal worth a money-spinning £180,000-per-week, rising to £200,000.

The new contract makes Hudson-Odoi one of the paid footballers under 20 on the planet.

Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of making his first-team return after recovering from the Achilles tendon injury that has kept him sidelined since April. The new contract marks a remarkable turnaround in Hudson-Odoi’s future since the turn of 2019.

‘It’s an amazing feeling,’ Hudson-Odoi told the club’s website. ‘It’s been a long wait but it’s done now and I’m really happy about that. I’ve been a Chelsea player since I was eight and this is the right club for me to be at.

‘I want to lift as many trophies as possible, win as many games as possible and contribute to as many goals as I can as well. As a team, we just want to work hard to achieve the best results we can. I’m delighted everything has been agreed and now I’m just looking forward to properly getting back.’

The teenager wanted to move to Bayern Munich, who saw several offers to land the attacking forward rejected by Chelsea. Munich were also willing to offer Hudson-Odoi a contract worth £200,000-per-week.

It left the Blues at risk of losing their wonderkid on a free transfer because his previous deal was due to expire next summer.

But the landscape at Chelsea has changed significantly since January. Maurizio Sarri, who Hudson-Odoi didn’t see a future under, has left and club legend Frank Lampard is now in charge.
