Zinedine Zidane Responds To Gareth Bale “Scapegoat” Claims At Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has denied Gareth Bale’s suggestions he was made a “scapegoat” at Real Madrid and insisted that everyone at the club shares responsibility.

Bale was expected to leave the Bernabeu this summer after a disappointing campaign which saw the Spanish giants finish third in La Liga.

However, the Welsh winger ended up staying in the Spanish capital after a move to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning collapsed.

And although he has managed to reclaim his place in the Frenchman’s first-team, Bale claimed  during the international break that he “was made more of a scapegoat than most” for the the team’s struggles last season.

However, Zidane disagreed with the 30-year-old’s view and was adamant that each member of his squad takes responsibility, regardless of how things go.

“No, I think we’re all guilty if things go wrong or if things go right,” Zidane said (via Goal).

“It’s up to us, all of us, we’re all in the same boat.

“We want to change things when things don’t go right. We’re thinking as a team mentality.”

Despite failing to secure a move to China, Bale has started each of the club’s opening three games of the new La Liga campaign.

And Zidane said that he is looking to focus on the present and assured that all parties involved are happy with the current situation.

“I’ve always said he’s got amazing quality, Gareth Bale,” the Frenchman added.

“He’s a great player. What happened in the summer, everyone knew the situation.

“Now he’s here, I’m happy, he’s happy, everyone is happy, the fans as well.
