Top 20 Most Expensive Squads To Be Assembled In World Football

Premier League sides possess the most-expensively assembled squads in world football.

The CIES Football Observatory has delved into how much each team in Europe’s four biggest leagues – Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga – spent on their respective squads.

And Premier League sides unsurprisingly dominate, with five places in the top 10.

Champions Manchester City, who strengthened further with the club-record addition of £62m Rodri this summer, have invested a staggering £906m (€1.014bn) on their all-conquering squad.

City’s huge outlay on their squad includes the big-money signings of Kevin de Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez.

Remarkably, City’s squad is worth 32 times more than that of Norwich (£28.7m), who were promoted to the Premier League last season.

European champions Liverpool  make the top 10, with their squad costing £573m to assemble, as do Manchester UnitedA rsenal and Chelsea.

OIe Gunnar Solskjaer’s men spent big again this summer to bring in Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Arsenal also broke their transfer record to land Nicolas Pepe.

The transfer spending of Everton  in recent years is laid bare with Marco Silva’s squad having cost more than that of German champions Bayern Munich, as well as Champions League regulars Borussia Dortmund, Roma and Napoli.
