Romelu Lukaku reportedly ‘begged’ Alexis Sanchez to join him at Inter Milan.
Manchester United have agreed a deal with the Italian giants over a loan deal to take Sanchez to the San Siro after a disastrous 18 months at Old Trafford.
Sanchez will link up with Lukaku in Milan with the Belgian striker making the move from Manchester earlier this summer.
And Lukaku made a number of phone calls to former teammate Sanchez to encourage him to follow in his footsteps, reports the Mail.
Former Everton striker Lukaku reportedly talked up the Italian city to Sanchez upon his arrival this summer.
Lukaku is claimed to have told the Chilean about the ‘beauty’ of Milan over Manchester, encouraging him to make the move with him.
Inter were linked with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala earlier this summer but the impending arrival of Sanchez will see them end their interest.
anchez’s loan move to the San Siro is not thought to come with the option to buy at the end of the season.
United have been locked in negotiations over a move for Sanchez to San Siro for a number of weeks, but have had to overcome a number of issues to finalise a deal – not least how much of his £400,000-a-week wages the Italians would pay.
That figure stands at just over 40 per cent, with Inter due to pay £175,000-a-week and United covering the rest during his temporary stay in Italy.
As such, Inter will pay £7million of the £16million salary that Sanchez will earn during his stay. United will pay the remaining £9million.
