Manchester United have opened talks with Juventus over a potential swap deal for Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala – with the Argentinian’s agent flying to the UK.
Inter Milan target Lukaku was left behind from United’s preseason trip to Oslo where they are currently playing Kristiansund, the hometown club of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Juve are open to shifting Dybala, 25, off the wage bill with the Argentine who has fallen down the pecking order in Turin since Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival last summer.
Dybala’s agent is understood to have flown to London to discuss a possible move to Old Trafford for his client.
United sources insist there is a long way to go before any possible move is completed.
But the fact that talks have begun suggests there could be an end in sight for one the long-running transfer sagas of the summer.
Inter saw a bid rejected of £54million for wantaway Lukaku, 26, and could now lose out to their Serie A rivals Juve for his signature.
For most of the summer, United have been discussing Romelu Lukaku’s exit with Inter Milan and Juve interested.
In fact, a swap deal for the Belgian and Dybala is one of the options mooted for this deal.
