Arsenal and Spurs are in a transfer battle for Ajax player Donny van de Beek.
The Gunners are looking to snap up the Dutch midfielder from under the noses of their rivals Spurs, according to The Times.
Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League next season after their humiliating 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Europa League final.
They are reportedly keen however to sign the young Dutch midfielder as manager Unai Emery rebuilds his squad.
The 22-year-old was rumoured to be heading to Spurs for £45million.
Van de Beek’s stock has risen in recent weeks thanks to Ajax’s amazing run to the Champions League semi-finals.
Ajax are keen to offer him a new deal and make sure that he stays at the club next season.
His father Andre van de Beek has also made it clear the midfielder would only move to a ‘very good club’.
He said: “It would have to be a very good club for him to want to trade Ajax for.
“He would prefer to win many more trophies with Ajax.”
Spurs boss Mauicio Pochettino also has his eye on Fulham full back Ryan Sessegnon, 19.
If Spurs manage to sign a new player this will be the first new blood in the squad since their signing of Lucas Moura in January 2018.
Van de Beek has scored 20 goals for Ajax in 94 appearances.
The ace has also played for The Netherlands where he is yet to score.
