Arsenal and Liverpool target Nicolas Pepe has started discussions over a summer transfer, according to his agent.
Lille striker Pepe is in high demand with plenty of top European giants chasing his signature, after his stunning Ligue 1 campaign.
Pepe is the French league’s top scorer having bagged 19 goals and 11 assists this season – at a record of 151 minutes per notch.
Only Paris Saint Germain megastar Kylian Mbappe has netted more times this campaign.
The Ivory Coast international is on the horizons of Premier League outfits Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.
The Gunners have been tracking Pepe for over a year, with former transfer guru Sven Mislintant keen to scout him.
But the £75million price tag could rule them out of the running with Chelsea more likely as they look set to be in the look out for a new forward with Eden Hazard high on Real Madrid’s wishlist.
Despite the heavy interest, Pepe’s representative Samir Khiat has admitted their are currently no favourites in terms of clubs of leagues – with Bayern Munich mentioned.
“We are in discussions with clubs. No decision has been taken,” Khiat told RTL.
“Today, there are no favourites, be it Bayern Munich or another club. Nicolas will not go just anywhere. We have not decided on which league.”
Lille president Gerard Lopez told Telefoot he expects the player to move on.
“Four or five players will be leaving this summer,” he said.
“All clubs are forced to balance their accounts except perhaps one. I would say yes, it is sure he [Pepe] will leave.
“He enters a price range that can no longer be paid. There is a career choice to make for him, I think he will have the choice.”
