PSG Demand Injured Neymar Return To Squad As Cheerleader Ahead Of Man Utd Game

Paris Saint-Germain are calling for Neymar to return to the club and be a cheerleader for their Champions League clash with Manchester United.

Neymar has been out of action since suffering a broken bone in his foot in mid-January and is still some way short of fitness.

The 27-year-old is still back home in South America as he approached the stage where he will be able to resume training.

But PSG boss Thomas Tuchel says the time has now come for him to fly back to the French capital to be around the group before Wednesday’s game.

Tuchel said: “He is always doing good when he is back home in Brazil. It is important that we get Neymar back before United for support.

“It is also important in terms of him returning stronger than ever. I hope that he will be able to train with us after the United match.”

While Neymar is definitely out of the second leg clash with United, one star striker is now in with a chance of being fit enough to play.

Edinson Cavani missed the first match at Old Trafford through a thigh injury which had been expected to leave him unavailable for the whole last-16 stage.

But if United didn’t already have a tough enough job trying to turn around a 2-0 deficit from the first leg, they could now have to do it having to shackle Cavani as well.

The 32-year-old has resumed full training this week, but will not be risked in the Ligue 1 game against Caen this weekend.

Instead there is the chance he will make his comeback against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side next week.

Tuchel added: “Edinson Cavani returns for collective training today with the team but will not make the game tomorrow, we do not want to take risks with him.”
