Liverpool have been handed a huge scare ahead of their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich after Roberto Firmino missed training with illness.
The Brazilian was forced to sit out of the session at Melwood on Monday as Jurgen Klopp went through his final preparations ahead of Tuesday’s first-leg.
Club doctors will need to assess Firmino’s health on Tuesday before making a decision whether to leave him out of the squad.
But Klopp has Daniel Sturridge available and fit should he be forced to rest the striker.
If Firmino does miss out, it will be another blow to the manager who is already without Dejan Lovren and Virgil Van Dijk.
Lovren is struggling with a hamstring injury while his Dutch central defensive partner faces a one-game suspension.
On a more positive note for the Liverpool manager, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined in with training following a lengthy layoff.
The England winger hasn’t featured since April when he suffered heartbreaking ligament damage against Roma in the Champions League semi-final first-leg.
He unsurprisingly looked in high spirits as he chatted alongside Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson.
Bayern Munich, who haven’t been at their best in the Bundesliga this season, jetted to Merseyside earlier today.
