Raul Jimenez Reveals Secret Behind Incredible Debut Season At Wolves

Raul Jimenez reckons the secret to his huge impact at Wolves  is not obsessing over goals.

On-loan Mexican striker Jimenez has been a smash hit in his debut season in the Premier League with promoted Wolves.

He has nine top-flight goals to help Wanderers to seventh as the spearhead of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

He has also netted two vital strikes in the FA Cup to set-up a fifth round tie away at Bristol City this weekend.

But as well as his goalscoring heroics, Jimenez’s unselfishness, work-rate and link-up play has endeared him to Santo, the squad and Wolves’ fans.

It has helped Jimenez notch five assists already in the Premier League.

They include a vital pass in the dramatic last gasp 4-3 home win over  Leicester when Jimenez squared for Diogo Jota to tap in when other strikers may have shot.

Little wonder Wolves already intend to buy the striker permanently from parent club Benfica this summer for £30million.

Jimenez, 27, said: “Different strikers are happy when they score but you have to think about the team – the assist and movements which can give space for your team mates.

“You can never quit. It’s teamwork.”

Jimenez joined Wolves while away with Mexico at the World Cup last summer after three years with Benfica and 12 months previously with Atletico Madrid.

He feels his time on the continent helped him hit the ground running in England.

Jimenez added: “It’s easier to make the jump from Spain and Portugal to here and I want to keep improving.”
