Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar  has been hard at work in the gym as he continues his rehabilitation from a broken foot.

Neymar was ruled out for 10 weeks after suffering the metatarsal injury during PSG’s French Cup tie with Strasbourg last month.

It means the Brazilian forward, who has scored 20 goals and contributed 11 assists this season, will miss both legs of their Champions League last-16 clash with Manchester United.

Footage obtained by ‘digit fan club’ OTRO shows the 26-year-old working hard alongside a personal trainer as he recovers from the injury.

Neymar is seen arriving at the gym on crutches before the video shows the topless player rebuilding strength in his foot with a series of stretches and resistance band exercises.

He is also seen lifting dumbells and using cable to maintain his strength and at one point can be seen grimacing as he tries to get through the sets.

During one resistance exercise, in which Neymar has a band tied around his thighs, he complains that the foot ‘hurt at the beginning’.

The video clip concludes with Neymar undergoing tests on high-tech equipment to help assess the speed of his recovery.

The forward, who became the world’s most expensive footballer when he joined PSG from Barcelona for £198million in 2017, has scored 48 goals in 53 matches for PSG.

His manager Thomas Tuchel said he was in regular contract with Neymar during his recovery.

‘When he is at Ooredoo [PSG’s training centre] I hug him, when he is not at Ooredoo I write to him,’ he said.

‘So I keep in contact, I show him that I still believe, that I still wait, I show him that I am sad when he’s not in the dressing room.

‘I write to him that it’s sad when we start to prepare a match without him. And we are joking and we are writing and we are keeping in touch.

‘We want to keep in touch with everybody, but we cannot lose the connection to Ney and this is how we try.

‘But right now the big focus is on his rehabilitation and the big focus is on every physio and every doctor who’s with him and they deserve now the biggest credit to bring him hopefully back on the pitch very soon.’

PSG, who are 10 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, travel to Lyon on Sunday night.
