Liverpool have completed the signing of young French starlet Billy Koumetio.
The Premier League club have agreed a deal to snap up the 16-year-old defender from US Orleans Loiret.
Koumetio has been on the books of the Ligue 2 side since joining them at the age of 11.
The teenager was invited to Merseyside for a trial last year, and is said to have impressed coaches at the club when he travelled to spend time training with them in November.
And the Reds had little hesitation in offering him terms to join their academy set-up with the view to him developing into a graduate in the coming years.
Koumetio has been tipped as one of the brightest young talents emerging through the schoolboy system in France.
The left-footed central defender is said to have excellent ability on the ball and there is real hope he can develop into a top class footballer in the coming years.
The club has always produced professionals, but there had been a drop in the volume of players making the grade at Anfield since Steven Gerrard.
The likes of Martin Kelly and Jon Flanagan burst onto the scene but ultimately struggled to establish themselves at the highest level.
But over the past 18 months there have been real signs of progress – marked by the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
There is a genuine belief that a clutch of other highly-talented youngsters are also about to make the breakthrough and establish themselves as regulars in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
