Liverpool Make Shock Loan Move For James Tarkowski But Burnley Want £50m Deal

Burnley have slapped a £50million price tag on their England ace James Tarkowski as Liverpool look to solve their centre-back crisis.

The Anfield giants need reinforcements in their heart of their defence following the hamstring injury suffered by Dejan Lovren in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat at Wolves.

The Croat joined Joe Gomez and Joel Matip on the sidelines, with Jurgen Klopp also revealing Virgil van Dijk is suffering from a mystery injury.

It is understood boss Klopp and the club are looking initially into making a loan signing.

But finding a top-quality defender available on a short-term deal looks a big ask.

The Clarets want to keep Tarkowski but would find it difficult to turn down a bid of £50m.

One spin-off from the Lovren injury has been a U-turn in a decision to allow keeper Simon Mignolet to leave the club.

The Belgium star wants regular first-team action but Klopp is believed to now be not keen on letting such an experienced goalie go in the light of the defensive injuries.

Liverpool were forced to play 16-year-old Ki-Jana Hoever in defence alongside versatile midfielder Fabinho for most of Monday’s defeat by Wolves.

However, Klopp recently gave a positive injury update on crocked pair Matip and Gomes ahead of a busy few weeks of football.
