Cristiano Ronaldo collected the Best Player Award at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Thursday night.
The Juventus forward, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, attended the event at the Madinat Jumeirah with fiancee Georgina Rodriguez and son Cristiano Junior.
He said: ‘What better way to start the new year. Thanks for the appreciation and the care that I have received today.’
The 33-year-old beat France’s World Cup heroes Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann to pick up the award for the fifth time.
Other winners were Best Coach of the Year Didier Deschamps and Brazilian legend Ronaldo, who received a Player Career Award.
Atletico Madrid also had an evening to remember, with Los Rojiblancos voted as the best club of the year.
The Globe Soccer Awards, now in its 10th year, celebrates the achievements of players, managers, club directors and agents over last 12 months.
This week’s event marks the conclusion of the 13th Dubai International Sports Conference, which takes place at Madinat Jumeirah.
