Alex Iwobi Confused By Arsenal’s Tactics After Replacing Mesut Ozil At Half-Time

Alex Iwobi seemed to not know what formation Arsenal were playing against Brighton as he replaced Mesut Ozil at half-time.

Iwobi replaced Ozil in midfield at half-time and the Nigerian international was captured on television cameras asking team-mate Granit  Xhaka what formations Arsenal were playing.

He appeared to ask Xhaka: “What formation are we playing.”

Arsenal would go on to draw the game as the league’s top goal scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring before Jurgen Locadia equalised.

Unai Emery started the game with Arsenal donning a 4-1-2-1-2 formation with Ozil playing just behind strikers Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal reverted from their usual 4-3-3 formation for the diamond set up against Burnley last week.

The Gunners picked up a 3-1 win that night with Ozil playing the full 90 minutes in his preferred advanced midfield role – opposed to out wide.
