Liverpool’s stars didn’t quite get an all-expenses paid trip to New York to celebrate their win over Manchester United in the Premier League, but they got the next best thing.

Liverpool are back at the top of the Premier League, and their players attended a New York themed Christmas party on Sunday night.

Dejan Lovren posted a picture to Instagram alongside Mohamed Salah and someone dressed as the Statue of Liberty.

Liverpool completed a 3-1 win over Manchester United at Anfield thanks to a strike from Sadio Mane and two goals from Xherdan Shaqiri.

A single reply from Jesse Lingard wasn’t enough to save United’s blushes, as they now sit 19 points off Liverpool in sixth place in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are back on top, one point clear of Manchester City.

It’s Christmas party season, and Lovren and Salah had plenty to celebrate as they stepped out after their big win.

Salah had a big smile on his face, something which has been missing from his recent goal celebrations. His team-mate Virgil van Dijk claims everything is normal, despite Salah’s apparent lack of enthusiasm in victory, saying ‘he can’t smile every second of the day.’

‘Lovely Christmas party yesterday night in New York,’ joked Lovren in the picture’s caption.

Liverpool will be returning from fake New York pretty quickly, as they face a trip to Wolves on Friday.
