Nemanja Matic has been spotted out and about in Manchester as he waits to discover the extent of the injury that forced him out of the Serbia squad this week.
The midfielder has returned home to ‘complete his rehabilitation’ after withdrawing from international duty for an unspecified issue.
The problem is serious enough that it could rule Matic out of the crunch visit to Chelsea on Saturday week.
But he looked comfortable enough as he walked around Altrincham town centre wearing sunglasses, a grey T-shirt and jeans.
The 30-year-old looked unperturbed at missing Serbia’s Nations League fixtures with Montenegro and Romania this week.
Matic is not the only injury worry for Jose Mourinho ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge.
The Serb’s withdrawal came hot on the heels of left back Luke Shaw pulling out of the England squad for their double header against Croatia and Spain.
Mourinho will take his players to his old hunting ground on the back of a morale-boosting comeback win over Newcastle last weekend.
United rallied to a 3-2 win having fallen two goals behind inside the opening 10 minutes at Old Trafford last Saturday.
Victory took United to 13 points from their opening eight games, and eighth in the Premier League table.
