Ross Barkely Has A Great Chance To Step Up In Eden Hazard’s Likely Absence As Chelsea Seek Second Europa League Win

Chelsea are looking for their second Europa League win as they prepare to face Videoton at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.

The Blues face the Hungarian side on the back of a hard fought draw with title competitors Liverpool – who scored a late equaliser thanks to a worldie from Daniel Sturridge.

There is no question Eden Hazard is one of the best players in world football at the moment, but as he is likely to be rested, Chelsea’s key man for this fixture will be Ross Barkley.

Barkley has found his feet as a Blue this season under Maurizio Sarri, after struggling with injury and to break into the side under Antonio Conte last season.

This season, the scouse midfielder has put together some fine performances, providing the assist for Willian in Chelsea’s last Europa League clash against PAOK and a putting in a very good performance against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

Alvaro Morata has continued to struggle this season as a Chelsea player and Olivier Giroud has replaced him in the starting team.

The Spaniard only has one goal in six appearances this season but will be hoping he can get on the score sheet against this opposition.

The Spaniard has 12 goals in 37 appearances for Chelsea.
