Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard may have been the star of the show against Cardiff, but the hat-trick hero has placed all credit at the door of Olivier Giroud.
Hazard hit the back of the net three times as the Blues cruised to a 4-1 victory, with help from the imposing Giroud.
The Frenchman provided two assists for Hazard during the encounter, while showcasing a masterclass in target-man ability and the holding up of the ball.
Following the full-time whistle Hazard was keen to recognise the influence of Giroud, who had been brought into the team to replace record signing Alvaro Morata.
‘Olivier’s a target man, maybe the best in the world, I think so,’ Hazard told the club’s official website.
‘When he gets the ball he can hold the ball and we can go in deep with him, so for us it’s a pleasure to play with him.
‘When Alvaro was playing it’s completely different, he’s a different player than Olivier, but they both have great qualities, so I’m happy to have good strikers in the team.’
The victory sees Chelsea sit at the top of the pile in the Premier League, level on points with Liverpool with 15 points from five games played but marginally ahead on goal difference.
The Blues return to action against PAOK Salonika on Thursday, September 20, for their opening group game in this season’s Europa League competition.
