David Luiz is set to open Chelsea contract talks.
The Brazilian, 31, forced his way back into favour under Maurizio Sarri after being frozen out last term.
Now the Blues want his future secured with a fresh £125,000-a-week contract extension.
Luiz’s current deal expires in the summer and he could leave for free.
But he is expected to get at least TWO more years at Stamford Bridge.
The defender fell out with previous boss Antonio Conte and in the second half of last season he did not play after February.
But he has been a key man for Sarri in his first games as Chelsea boss.
Sarri said: “David has a big future here — he will be very useful for us.
“I don’t know what happened in the past but now he has a good chance.”
Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante has revealed why he snubbed a move from Chelsea.
Paris Saint-Germain wanted the France World Cup-winning midfielder.
But Kante, 27, a £29million capture from Leicester in 2016, was keen to remain in London.
He said: “I’m settled at Chelsea. There was interest from other clubs but after talking to Chelsea things became clear. The club are counting on me.”
