Gerard Pique has revealed he would be ‘very happy’ if Paul Pogba joined him at Barcelona from Manchester United.
Pogba, a World Cup winner with France earlier this summer, has struggled to hit the ground running this campaign.
The 25-year-old’s relationship with manager Jose Mourinho is under constant scrutiny, which has affected the midfielder’s performances.
By his own admission Pogba said his display in the 3-2 defeat at Brighton last weekend wasn’t good enough, surprisingly admitting his own attitude “wasn’t right”.
And with his ongoing situation at United showing no signs of coming to a head, former Red Devil Pique says the Barcelona dressing room “would be happy to have him” at the club.
The 31-year-old, who spent four years at United prior to joining the Spanish giants in 2008, said: “I don’t know about his relationship with Mourinho,” he told Sport.
“We’ll see in the future, but we would be very happy to see Pogba in Barca’s shirt.
“Pogba is a very good player, but a Manchester United player right now, and we’ll see if anything happens in the future.
“We would be happy to have him here, but Manchester United is his club and, if someone has to say something, it must be them.”
Clubs in Spain still have until the end of August to sign players, but the Red Devils remain adamant the unsettled star will not be sold in this window.
