Nigeria goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has joined Spanish Segunda division club, Elche FC on a season long loan deal from Deportivo La Coruna.
Uzoho was Nigeria’s first choice at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Elche’s official website statement reads: “The club and the R.C. Deportivo de la Coruña have agreed the transfer of goalkeeper Francis Uzoho on a one-year loan deal which comes after he played for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.”
The 19-year-old will have his medical at the club on Monday and will resume training with his teammates afterwards.
Uzoho made two appearances for Deportivo La Coruna in the Spanish La Liga Santander last season.
Uzoho made this move so he would play regular football after his sudden rise to international stardom.
He played 28 games with the club’s B side,Deportivo La Coruna Fabril in the Segunda B.
