John Akinde was on target as his side came from behind to beat 10-man Bury 2-1 in League Two on Tuesday at Sincil Bank.
Akinde equalised for Lincoln City from the spot after Will Aimson saw red for handball in his own area.
Frecklington then sealed victory in the 82nd minute to keep Danny Cowley’s men in the top two.
O’Connell opened the scoring when he slammed a shot home from close range in the first half to put Bury ahead.
Akinde who has now scored four goals this season played for 58 minutes and was replaced by Matthew Rhead.
Meanwhile Gold Omotayo was in action for Bury and played for 76 minutes in their defeat.
