Real Madrid have released another bizarre statement insisting they do not want to sign Neymar.
Days after making a similar move regarding Kylian Mbappe, the Champions League kings have ruled out a mega-money move for their former Barcelona rival.
The club said: “Given the constant information linking the PSG player Neymar Jr with our club, Real Madrid wants to clarify that we have no plans to make any offers for the player.
“The relationship between the two clubs is extraordinary, so that, if at some point Real Madrid were considering hiring a PSG player, the first thing we would do would be to go to the club.”
Last week, after several reports linking Mbappe to the Bernabeu, Real attempted to keep smooth relations with PSG by issuing another statement.
It read: “Given the information published in the last [few] hours referring to an alleged agreement between Real Madrid and PSG by player Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid says they are flatly false.
“Real Madrid has not made any offers to PSG or the player and regrets the dissemination of this type of information that is not contrasted with the parties.”
PSG are reportedly ready to make Neymar the highest-paid player in the world on, £850,000-a-week, in order to fend off Madrid.
The Ligue 1 side – who smashed the transfer record by paying £198million for Neymar last summer – are ready to open the chequebook again to keep him in the French capital.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s £99m move to Juventus has opened the door to a new Galactico arriving at the Bernabeu.
Real president Florentino Perez wants it to be Neymar, although they are also considering a £150m move for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
But PSG are now said to have started talks with Neymar’s representatives over a new deal for the 26-year-old.
It is thought Neymar’s take-home pay from the improved contract would be roughly £500,000 a week, the same as Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
