Barcelona have launched a second bid of £60million for Chelsea winger Willian.
Chelsea had rejected a £50m offer from the Spanish side last month.
But Ernesto Valverde has returned with an improved figure which is certain to test Chelsea’s resolve as he looks to add an extra dimension to his attack this summer.
It is understood that the La Liga giants have tabled a £55m offer for the player with a further £5m in add-ons.
Despite winning the league and cup double last season, the Catalan giants have concerns that their squad still lacks greater quality in depth and attacking flair.
Willian is therefore wanted following the departure of Andres Iniesta and Paulinho and the Barca hierarchy also want him to link up with compatriot Philippe Coutinho.
Last week Willian insisted speculation over a move to Spain would not distract him from Brazil’s World Cup campaign in Russia.
When asked about linking up with Coutinho at the Nou Camp, Willian said: ‘Well, they are excellent players with a lot of quality. In addition to great players, they are very good friends.
‘People speculate a lot. We see a lot of things on the internet, but this is not the time to talk about this. I’ve not received any information about that. I’m trying to focus on my performance, playing for Brazil.’
Brazil were subsequently knocked out of the competition by Belgium, which has paved the way for the Spanish giants to up their pursuit of the Blues winger.
