World Cup 2018: Argentina Fly Home After Crashing Out… And Only One Player Gets On Chartered Plane

Argentina’s squad split up immediately after they crashed out of the World Cup.

Only one member of Jorge Sampaoli’s squad flew home on the team plane after the defeat to France.

According to Ed Malyon, midfielder Enzo Perez was alone for the 18-hour flight back to Buenos Aires.

All of the other players reportedly dispersed across Europe within 24 hours of the defeat.

Following his fourth World cup failure, Lionel Messi was spotted meeting his wife at Barcelona airport after the defeat.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored just once at the tournament and has still not scored in a World Cup knockout game.

He was spotted on his own in the airport but reportedly travelled with Javier Mascherano.

Manchester City star Sergio Aguero took to Instagram to thank the fans, doctors, physios and players after the match.

But he failed to mention Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli in the message.

The 58-year-old is set to leave his role this week after meeting with AFA chief Claudio Tapia.

Sampaoli’s side, who were among the favourites, suffered a 4-3 defeat to France in the last 16 of the competition.

Kylian Mbappe scored twice to inspire a remarkable comeback from Didier Deschamps’ side.

Argentina fans were reduced to tears as Les Bleus progressed to the quarter-finals after the seven-goal thriller.
