Didier Deschamps put his France squad through their paces in a heavily running-based training session on Monday.

Les Bleus scraped past Australia on Saturday in their opening World Cup game and will be keen for a better showing on Thursday.

They face Peru, who suffered defeat by Denmark in their first encounter.

France are among the tournament favourites but struggled past the Socceroos

Didier Deschamps oversaw training with his squad recovering from their exertions

The France players were pictured stretching and appeared to be relaxed in the Moscow sunshine.

On Monday those who missed out on selection against the Socceroos faced Spartak Moscow’s Under 19 team in a friendly.

The game lasted around an hour whilst starters recovered in the gym. But Tuesday’s training session saw the entire squad reunite.

The French struggled for large periods against Australia and failed to establish a strong rhythm.

Paul Pogba was initially credited with the winner, a looping deflection that narrowly snuck over the line, but his effort was ruled to be an own goal.

The Manchester United midfielder described himself as the ‘most criticised player in world football’ and will no doubt be looking to silence his doubters and inspire the French to another win on Thursday.
