World Cup 2018: Manchester City Star Leroy Sane Dropped By Germany Ahead Of Tournament In Russia

Leroy Sane has incredibly not made made Germany's 23-man World Cup squad

Manchester City star Leroy Sane has sensationally been dropped by Germany ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

The on-fire winger, 22, has failed to make the final 23-man squad as Joachim Low opts for the likes of Julian Brandt and Sebastian Rudy.

Sane had been in scintillating form in 2017-18 – winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award – but is one big name to miss out as Die Mannschaft’s winless run continues.

Germany have failed to win a game since qualifying for the tournament in Russia – most recently losing 2-1 to Austria.

Reports in Germany have now revealed Sane failed to make the squad due to his poor international form.

Low is said to be disappointed the flying forward has failed to replicate his Man City form for his country – having failed to score and registering just one assist in his last 12 Germany games.

Sane notched 15 assists in the Premier League, bettered only by team-mate Kevin De Bruyne (16).

Along with Sane, Bernd Leno, Jonathan Tah and Nils Petersen have been cut from the provisional Germany squad.

On the snub, Low revealed: “That was a very close decision between him and Julian Brandt, which was made in favour of Brandt.

“Draxler, Reus and Muller are set. Leroy has a huge talent.

“He will be back again from September. He had not arrived in international matches yet.”
