Jurgen Klopp’s squad have returned home after their chastening 3-1 defeat in the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

The squad touched down at John Lennon airport on Sunday morning just hours after the final whistle blew at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev.

Manager Klopp looked understandably glum as he was spotted through the front window of Liverpool’s team coach following his side’s painful loss.

Liverpool’s talisman Mohamed Salah, who endured a disappointing evening for contrasting reasons was spotted on Sunday.

The Egyptian was forced off in tears midway through the first half following a tussle with Madrid captain Sergio Ramos that saw him land awkwardly on his shoulder.

And Salah appeared to be wearing his shoulder in a sling as he departed the plane, with the 25-year-old’s World Cup hopes in doubt following the injury.

And Loris Karius, whose two errors on the night gifted Madrid two of their three goals, was pictured among the players walking onto the airport runway.

The German took the steps down from Liverpool’s private plane alongside Joel Matip and Emre Can as he began coming to terms with his horror show in Kiev.

Karius gifted Madrid’s opener when he inexplicably threw the ball into the path of Karim Benzema before parrying Gareth Bale’s shot into his own net to seal defeat.

The likes of Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner were present walking off the plane as the disappointment of defeat began to set in.
