Barcelona Legend Lionel Messi Heaps Praise On Antoine Griezmann Ahead Of His Proposed Move To The Nou Camp

Antoine Griezmann is edging towards a Barcelona move and Lionel Messi has embraced it

Lionel Messi has heaped praise on Antoine Griezmann, ahead of the Atletico Madrid man’s proposed switch to the Nou Camp.

Griezmann looks to have played his final game for the Madrid club, with Barcelona heavy favourites to secure his signature this summer following the World Cup.

The France international will link up with the likes of Luis Suarez and Messi in Catalonia should he secure his move, and the Argentina maestro has already spoken in glowing terms about his prospective new team-mate.

‘It’s obvious that I like him. He’s one of the best right now,’ Messi told RAC1¬†following the season-ending fixture with Real Sociedad.

Messi remained coy on the potential signing of Griezmann, though admitted he is always keen to welcome the finest.

‘I don’t know if there’s anything with him or not, but we’re delighted that the best come and Griezmann is one of them,’ Messi added.

Griezmann finished off his season in memorable fashion, scoring twice as Atletico defeated Marseille to be crowned Europa League champions in Lyon.

While the player may have his heart set on a move to Catalonia, Atleti hierarchy have been far from impressed with Barca’s conduct.

The rival duo look set to become team-mates at the Nou Camp next season

The club released a statement publicly condemning the actions of their rivals.

‘We’re fed up with Barcelona’s attitude,’ Atletico CEO Miguel Gil Marin said.

‘[Speaking] about the future of a player with a current contract just days before disputing a European final is an absolute lack of respect towards Atletico and their fans.’
