Ogu, Nwakaeme Wins Third Israeli League Title In A Row With Hapoel Beer Sheva

John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme have been crowned the champions of the 2017-18 Israeli league with Hapoel Beer Sheva.

The Nigeria internationals played key roles in helping the Camels clinch the Israeli top-flight title for the third time in a row.

Both Nigeria stars have featured in all three championship conquests and their club will again battle next season in the UEFA Champions League.

This season, defensive midfielder Ogu has scored three goals in 27 appearances, while compatriot Nwakaeme netted 10 goals in 27 games.

“3 in a row!’ Ogu tweeted.

Despite losing 1-0 to Maccabi Tel Aviv on Saturday, Barak Bakhar’s men are seven points adrift of second-placed Beitar Jerusalem with two games remaining in the Israeli top-flight.

Hapoel Beer Sheva who have 74 points from 34 games, retained the league title at the Turner Stadium after the Menorah’s 3-3 draw with Bnei Yehuda on Saturday.
