Sergio Aguero Set To Stay At The Etihad And See Out Final Two Years Of His Contract

Pep Guardiola wants to keep Sergio Aguero at the club

Pep Guardiola  has told Sergio Aguero he is desperate to keep him at the club… but admits anything can happen.

The Argentine ace has been linked with a return to Atletico Madrid with Antoine Griezmann heading to Barcelona.

Aguero, City’s record goalscorer, still has two years left on his current contract.

And Pep wants Aguero to see out the remainder of his deal and let the player decide himself when he wants to leave.

He said: “I think it’s not going to happen, my desire is it will not happen but I don’t know.

“Last season or this when this happened, I said maybe a thousand times Sergio will stay until he decides his time is over.

The Argentine striker is wanted by Atletico Madrid to replace Antoine Griezmann

“I said it many times and I say it again. But in football you never know.”

Reported by the Mirror, a source at the club claims Pep Guardiola wants to sign three players in the summer and Aguero is still very much part of his plans.

The Spaniard wants to add a central defender, a defensive midfielder and a right-sided attacker to his title-winning side.

Aguero may find his starting role in the team under-threat from Gabriel Jesus as Guardiola looks to opt for a young looking forward line.

The forward, who has 30 goals this season, wants to end his career at boyhood club Independiente.

Aguero has a legendary status at City having helped fire them to three Premier League titles.

It was claimed by Marca that Atletico have already made contact with City over a potential swoop.

They want to replace Griezmann who is set to join rivals Barca after they activate his £88million release clause.
