Liverpool returned home from their Champions League triumph today – and immediately set about looking ahead to facing Chelsea this weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s side stayed overnight in Italy after coming through their clash with Roma to book a date in the final against Real Madrid later this month.
The Reds squad then made a low key flight back into Merseyside today after a low-key celebration following the 4-2 defeat in Rome that was enough to win the semi-final tie 7-6 on aggregate.
But while supporters have been rushing to book flights to Kiev for the final on May 26, Klopp has already turned his attention to the clash with Chelsea on Sunday.
Liverpool make the trip to Stamford Bridge knowing they can finally end the London club’s hopes of securing Champions League football next season.
And they also want to ensure they maintain their excellent form throughout the remainder of the Premier League season to take to Kiev.
Victory over Antonio Conte’s side will be enough to confirm the Reds finish in the top four this season, although the battle for third position with Tottenham is expected to go until the final day.
Klopp will have to manage his resources over the last two domestic matches, keen to ensure his players stay clear of injury but also retain their match sharpness ahead of the match with Real.
