Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool players have flown to Rome on the back of a big send-off ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final clash.

Mohamed Salah and his team-mates arrived at the city’s John Lennon Airport with the Premier League’s top scorer given a police escort ahead of the journey to face Roma in the Italian capital.

The Reds will hope their Egyptian star can spark yet another special occasion against his former club on Wednesday.

Captain Jordan Henderson looked relaxed as he made his way past the crowd while James Milner, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Co, all wearing the club New Balance gear of black trousers and grey hooded tops and most with their earphones in, appeared to be enjoying the fine, sunny day on Merseyside as they made the short walk from the shuttle bus to the aircraft.

The Reds, who had earlier gathered at the club’s Melwood training complex,¬†blew away their opposition at Anfield in the first leg, racing to a 5-0 lead before two late goals from the visitors left the door ever-so-slightly ajar for what would be an incredible comeback at the Stadio Olimpico.

The club will be desperately hoping to make their first Champions League showpiece since 2007, with either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, who square up on Tuesday night, set to be their opponent.
