Lionel Messi Watches Argentina’s 6-1 Thrashing By Spain

Lionel Messi was forced to watch Argentina’s 6-1 humiliation at the hands of Spain from the stands – and couldn’t even bear to see it out until the finish.

La Roja ran riot at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium with Isco bagging a hat-trick with Diego Costa, Thiago and Iago Aspas also getting on the scoresheet.

Barcelona legend Messi sat out of the game, and Friday night’s 2-0 victory over Italy, due to fatigue in his hamstring and adductor – following a gruelling La Liga campaign.

The superstar observed the rout from a hospitality box with teammate and West Ham star Manuel Lanzini and showed a range of emotions including frustration, disbelief and pure exasperation.

But soon after Isco had completed his treble in the 74th minute and the embarrassment was almost complete, Messi was seen walking back into the box.
