Neymar’s future is at PSG despite reports that the world’s most expensive player could leave France in the summer, says his father.
PSG chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi accompanied Neymar senior at a press conference on Tuesday to give assurances that the £200m summer signing from Barcelona will be going nowhere.
Al-Khelaifi is in Brazil to visit Neymar, who is recovering from a broken foot which ruled him out of the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, the team most heavily linked with the striker.
Neymar Snr said, according to ESPN: ‘Neymar already has a future at PSG. Neymar already has a present at PSG.’
PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi added: ‘Neymar is happy, highly motivated and excited to come back as soon as possible. He is doing his best to come back as soon as possible, he is in good shape.’
Al-Khelaifi was with Neymar snr, who acts as agent for his son, in Mangaratiba near Rio de Janeiro, where Neymar jnr is recovering.
The 26-year-old was stretchered off against Marseille last month with a fractured metatarsal in his right foot, with his return not yet known.
Although PSG initially said he would return in a matter of weeks, doctors for the Brazil national side think it will be months before he is fit again.
This is a worry for Brazil fans as well as those of PSG, with Neymar facing a race to be fit for the World Cup, which starts on June 14 in Russia.
