A young Arsenal fan who asked for Hector Bellerin’s shirt during their win at Crystal Palace got a lot more than she bargained for when the player paid a visit to her house.
Bellerin put out an appeal to find the girl, Claudia, who held a handwritten banner asking for the full back’s signed jersey during the game at Selhurst Park in December.
Having tracked the youngster down, he paid a visit to the family home to fulfill the request – and stayed to hang out with her and her brother, Austin.
Bellerin wrote on Instagram: ‘After the Palace away game I saw a pic online of a young fan showing her love for me. So I posted on social media to help me find her. It worked!
‘I went and surprised the family with a visit to their home. Thank you everyone who got involved to make this happen.’
After arriving, Bellerin was quickly roped into playing video games with the two Arsenal supporting youngsters, who were wearing team shirts – Claudia with Bellerin’s name, while Austin wore Rob Holding’s number.
The Spaniard then presented Claudia with the famed shirt – and signed it for her – while also bringing one for her brother.
In return, she gave him a late Valentine’s Day card and a pack of Arsenal Top Trumps cards – which Bellerin later played with the two kids – before giving him a tour of their family home.
It was an impressive gesture by Bellerin, who has been a rare bright spark in a largely poor season for the Gunners.
