Petr Cech has apologised to Arsenal fans and admits he was responsible for their dismal defeat at Brighton.
Lewis Dunk capitalised on a missed punch by the veteran stopper to put the hosts ahead inside seven minutes.
Cech, 35, then saw Glenn Murray’s header squirm under his body to double Brighton’s advantage less than 20 minutes later.
The Gunners attempted to rally back and despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal on the stroke of half time, their fourth defeat in a row leaves Arsene Wenger’s side 13 points off Tottenham who occupy the last Champions League spot.
Under pressure Wenger was forced to answer some tough questions after the defeat but it was Cech who admitted the blame lies in his hands.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “If you want to win a game away from home in the best league in the world your GK can’t concede 2 goals like I did today…
“It’s simply not possible… The team fought back but the damage was done.”
Arsenal fans brutally ripped into Cech at the full-time whistle following his performance at the Amex.
