Jose Mourinho is believed to be at loggerheads with Manchester United’s record-signing Paul Pogba, who reportedly ‘regrets’ signing for the Old Trafford club.
The Red Devils broke the world transfer record when they re-signed the France international from Juventus for £89million last season.
After a disappointing year domestically, United were looking for Pogba to step up this campaign and lead the Red Devils back to the top.
The season started brilliantly as Pogba linked up with £75million summer signing Romelu Lukaku and United took West Ham and Swansea to the sword in their first two games.
The Belgian international suffered a dip in form around the Christmas period, and with Manchester City running away with the title, Mourinho pulled out his wallet and signed Alexis Sanchez.
The club hoped the Chilean would be the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle and that United would finally click, but in some ways things have regressed.
Pogba hasn’t played a full ninety minutes for United since January 20, in the club’s 1-0 win over Burnley.
He was hooked against Tottenham, where he was seen arguing with Mourinho on the touchline, dropped for the Huddersfield game, and taken off again in the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle last time out.
Mourinho is seemingly growing increasingly frustrated with the club’s talisman, and, according to the Daily Record, this is down to two key reasons.
The Red Devils boss is reportedly unhappy with Pogba’s inability to link up with Sanchez, and doesn’t believe he has done enough to accommodate the Chilean.
Mourinho is also apparently frustrated at the Frenchman failing to take his tactics on board – particularly where defending is concerned, which appears to be the reason he was taken off against Newcastle.
Pogba is becoming increasingly disillusioned at playing as a deep-lying playmaker in a midfield two, according to reports in France.
The France international would apparently like to play on the left hand side of a midfield three, and former United star Paul Ince is concerned Pogba could leave in the summer if the issue isn’t resolved.
