Manchester United’s stars have ramped up preparations for this weekend’s FA Cup visit to Huddersfield Town as they aim to avoid the fate that befell them on their last trip to west Yorkshire.

Jose Mourinho’s side suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season when they visited the John Smith’s Stadium back in October, going down 2-1 to the newly-promoted side.

And they must overcome Huddersfield again this Saturday in the fifth round of the Cup as Mourinho sets his sights on the piece of silverware they are most likely to win this season.

With neighbours Manchester City 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, United will turn their attention to glory in the Cup, which they last won in 2016, and the Champions League.

United’s recent away performances have also been troubling, with recent losses to Tottenham and Newcastle leaving them glancing over their shoulder is the scramble for the four Champions League places.

And they made heavy weather of beating Huddersfield 2-0 at Old Trafford a fortnight ago, when second-half goals by Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez eventually got them over the line.

Paul Pogba, whose recent poor performances have drawn criticism from pundits, was driving his black Bentley, while Juan Mata was at the wheel of a sporty Aston Martin.

Alexis Sanchez was driving his white Range Rover, while Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard were also in 4×4 vehicles.

Nemanja Matic is the exception to the mega-money rule, cruising to Carrington in his red Mini.

After their visit to Huddersfield, United fly out to Spain to play Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 contest.

Premier League engagements with Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Liverpool then follow before the return leg at Old Trafford.
