Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera could be out for weeks.
The Manchester United midfielder is a huge doubt for Saturday’s FA Cup fifth-round tie at Huddersfield while he waits to see how his left-thigh injury responds to treatment.
Boss Jose Mourinho confirmed the Spaniard has joined striker Marcus Rashford, 20, on the sidelines with a muscle knock.
But Herrera is unsure how long exactly he will be missing.
The 28-year-old and Rashford were both absent from Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League loss at strugglers Newcastle.
That defeat left second-placed United 16 points behind neighbours City.
United’s wasteful finishing, combined with the Magpies’ strong defending, left Mourinho claiming: “We could have been here 10 hours and not scored.”
And Herrera could have expected to play at Huddersfield , with Mourinho appearing to consider resting some of his star performers, like midfield main men Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
Today’s injury development comes on the day the former Athletic Bilbao star has been linked with a summer exit to AC Milan.
United are thought to be willing to let Herrera leave – if the Serie A giants offer £30million-plus.
Milan have spent big since controversial owner Silvio Berlusconi sold the club to a Chinese consortium.
