The French club Amiens have released a statement regarding the delay in the transfer of Olanrewaju Kayode on loan from Manchester City.
After struggling for regular playing time in Girona this season, the 24-year-old forward was due to move to the French top-flight outfit on loan for the remainder of the season but necessary formalities were not validated in time.
The Unicorns faulted the delay in Kayode’s move on ‘administrative reasons’, as they now await decision by the ‘football authorities’
”Amiens SC is keen to comment on the situation of Nigerian international striker Larry Kayode, who was at the Stade de la Licorne last night, ho.ping to join the club,” read a statement on the club website.
“All stakeholders agreed within the time frame set by the international regulations. For administrative reasons, the transfer of Larry Kayode has not been validated.
“The 3 clubs concerned [Manchester City, Girona FC and Amiens SC] are currently working on the follow-up to this case, and on the possible solutions.
“The final decision will be taken by the football authorities, after evaluation of the file.
“Whatever the outcome of this transfer, Amiens SC will be able to count on a competitive workforce and its loyal supporters, to achieve its main goal: the maintenance in Ligue 1 Conforama.”
