Everton Starlet Ademola Lookman Trains With RB Leipzig For The First Time As England U21 Winger Starts His Bid To Prove Manager Sam Allardyce Wrong

The 20-year-old joined the German side on loan earlier in the week against Everton's wishes

Ademola Lookman’s bid to prove Sam Allardyce wrong began on Thursday as he trained with his new RB Leipzig team-mates for the first time.

The 20-year-old winger joined the Bundesliga side on loan earlier this week despite Everton lining up what they considered to be more suitable options.

But Lookman was determined to rise to the challenge of playing in Germany’s top league and the England Under 21 ace appeared excited as he tweeted three pictures of himself in training along with the words: ‘First session! #DieRotenBullen’.

Lookman added football and snowflake emojis to his post, with the latter relating to the cold weather in Leipzig where temperatures ranged from 0 to 6°C on Thursday.

Former Charlton Athletic star Lookman has joined a side fifth in the Bundesliga but just two points below second place and with real aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League for a second year running.

Allardyce raised concerns about Lookman rushing his development by testing himself at such a high level and in a foreign country.

The Toffees boss said: ‘It is one of the most unusual situations I’ve been in where we have got some deals for him but he was adamant he chose Germany.

‘It is his choice. Oliver Burke (who plays for West Brom) has been there and could not wait to get away.

‘We tried to persuade him not to because I think it is a big challenge for his development with not being able to speak the language.

‘We wanted him to go out on loan to play first-team football every week — there were better opportunities for that — but he was stubborn and got what he wanted.

‘I hope he proves us all wrong. I hope that he has every success and brings it back here to us.’
