Arsenal have been given a huge boost as they push to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Reports claim Borussia Dortmund are fed up with the saga and want the Gabon international out of the club, according to Sky Sports Germany.
The Gunners are desperate to add another striker to their ranks this month after Alexis Sanchez moved to Old Trafford.
Arsenal chief Ivan Gazidis has been in Dortmund looking to thrash out a deal before next Wednesday’s deadline.
However, two bids for the 28-year-old forward have been rejected with the Premier League side way short of the £60million valuation as the Germans prepare to go to the wire to get what they want.
Aubameyang started against Freiburg on Saturday and Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: ‘We are prepared to implement a transfer under certain parameters – but only if these parameters are fully met. Arsenal has started several attempts so far. We have all rejected so far.
‘Either our demands are fulfilled, then there can be another transfer or else they will not be fulfilled and Auba will play in Dortmund until the summer, so it is also discussed and accepted by the Aubameyang family.’
Aubameyang wants to move to Arsenal but also believes they need to push harder to get his deal done while the presence of former Dortmund employee Mislintat is also understood to have been poorly received.
Dortmund may yet revive interest in Olivier Giroud should a deal be struck for Aubameyang but Arsenal do not wish to sell the France international to a Premier League rival despite interest from Chelsea and West Ham.
Aubameyang was dropped by Dortmund for disciplinary reasons for the second time this season before the draw at home to Wolfsburg on January 14, and also missed the game away to Hertha Berlin five days later.
However, Dortmund boss Peter Stoger has now taken a more conciliatory approach to matters, after starting Aubameyang in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.
He did not play in the last two games after missing a team meeting, and in November was dropped for a defeat at Stuttgart when he did an unauthorised film shoot with a Youtuber at Dortmund’s training ground.
On Friday, manager Arsene Wenger said of Aubameyang: ‘I cannot tell you more. We have nothing to announce today and at the moment we stay where we are. We will still recruit somebody, it’s possible. We will try but we are not close to signing anybody.’
Whether Aubameyang moves to Arsenal remains to be seen, but the Gunners will have to move fast to get their man.
