Arsenal have been given a huge boost in their bid to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the striker reportedly handed in a transfer request.
The Gunners want to take the Gabonese striker to the Emirates with Alexis Sanchez set to leave the club this month.
And, according to Bild, Aubameyang has made the prospect all the more likely by handing in an official request to leave the Westfalenstadion.
Manchester United are red hot favourites to land Sanchez with discussions ongoing over a player-plus-cash deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Arsenal’s new recruitment chief Sven Mislintat knows both players from his time at Borussia Dortmund and both could get done this window.
Sanchez is still expected to join United this week after they blew Manchester City out of the window with personal terms of up to £400,000-a-week and a £30m signing on fee.
Arsenal want to get that done sooner rather than later so they can press on with their own plans.
