Pep Guardiola claims he is not planning to sign anyone next month because he is happy with his squad.
The Manchester City boss does need new full-backs long term and he is understood to have looked at Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk.
But Guardiola says he does not expect any new arrivals in the transfer window, apart from £27million Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus who joins in January from Palmeiras.
“I’m happy with what we have,” said Guardiola. “I have confidence in the players we have.
“I’m denying we are going to look for something, I’m not saying that. But right now, I think that’s not going to happen.
“The players have to play with the quality they have and I have to be able to help them produce.
“We have Jesus coming, Christmas is coming. We have another striker so I’m happy.
Guardiola is working over Christmas for the first time in his career in Spain and Germany and says he is preparing for the Boxing Day trip to Hull as normal.
He admits he has had to focus on his work because he is used to being off with his family at this time of year.
“This is my first year here and people say that at Christmas you have to be focused, focused because at home you celebrate with dinner and lunch and we have to be prepared,” said the Spaniard.
